Oral history interview with Rachel Silverstone and Sid Silverstone, June 13, 1985.

Mrs. Silverstone's family left Romania for Canada in 1898 with assistance from the Baron de Hirsch Institute. Rachel and Moe moved to Everett, Washington, in about 1919 to go into partnership in the Silverstone Brothers clothing store. The Everett Council of Jewish Women and B'nai B'rith lodge are discussed. Moe Silverstone conducted services at the Montefiore Congregation for fifty years and also collected for the United Jewish Appeal. Mrs Silverstone belonged to the Shriner lodge and Hadassah. Alfred Shemanski's fundraising for the Montefiore social hall addition is mentioned. The decline of the Everett Jewish community is also discussed.
